Your Choice of Trails

Climb Time: 8:00 AM
Distance: 10.5 miles
Tape color (in order of completion): Red, Yellow (optional), Blue then back to Red and then Green. (Note each route is marked with flags which correspond with the map colors EXCEPT the Blue route. The Blue route is not marked with flagging due to limitations of our City permit.)

Begin at Godric Grove at the Terrace of Remembrance stairs. Head south down the mountain and circumnavigate the Singleton Pavilion loop on your way to Jerry Harwin Parkway. Once on Jerry Harwin Parkway turn north and walk along the east side of the soccer fields. Take the small trail which runs along the north side of the soccer and softball fields. You will then complete a loop in the sand dunes above the BMX track. From there you will take the west-edge perimeter trail toward Las Positas Rd. Off this trail we’ve marked an optional loop (yellow markings) to add elevation and distance if you want a challenge. (The Yellow loop begins with a difficult uphill scramble and will bring you back to the west perimeter trail.) Proceed along the west perimeter trail to the south west corner of the park. Just prior to turning East you will come to an offshoot to your right – this heads down toward Cliff Drive. Take this to Cliff Drive and CAREFULLY cross the street to the Douglas Preserve trailhead near the Cliff Drive and Las Positas Intersection. (There are no trail marking flags on Douglas Preserve loop – indicated in blue on your map.) Circumnavigate Douglas Preserve clockwise. Once you have completed the loop head back to Elings the same way you arrived. From there you’ll proceed with the Red loop and head up the eastern perimeter trail to the ridge and to the water station and some amazing views. From there you proceed north down the hill via the western switchback section. Just before you reach Jerry Harwin Parkway you will notice a turn to the right. From here you follow the green markings which lead you back up the eastern switchback trail to the upper ridge and to the water station again to suck up some more views. From there proceed south toward the south entrance parking lot and veer west on the middle ridge trail which leads you along the upper west-edge of the park overlooking the west perimeter trail. This trail ultimately drops down to the west perimeter trail and takes you back toward the BMX track. Once at Jerry Harwin Parkway proceed up the north/west edge of the road via the dirt trail. This trail will lead you to the softball fields. Proceed through the softball complex and toward the soccer fields. Once at the soccer fields make your way back up to Godric Grove for the food, entertainment and celebration.
